After Long Wait, Tar Heels Will Be Getting Cooter Once Again

In an attempt to shore up UNC’s secondary after losing Kendric Williams for the season, Coach Butch Davis has reinstated safety Cooter Arnold from his suspension. Fans of Extrapolater’s Porn Name All-Stars, rejoice!

While I welcome any sort of depth on defense, I’m not sure how much his return will help the team. Arnold is a safety, not a corner like Kendric Williams, and through five game Trimane Goddard and Deunta Williams both have firm holds on their starting jobs. Unless Deunta moves to corner, I doubt that well see Arnold in the starting lineup.

(On the subject of our secondary, while no one wants to see a player get injured (let alone a torn ACL), Kendric Williams’ injury opens the door for freshman CB Charles Brown. Let’s see how well he plays in what should be his first career start against Miami.)
